What we do

PaddlePlus is an welcoming paddle sport club ran by volunteers. We meet every Thursday night throughout the year to paddle on the river soar, arrange pool sessions on Friday nights of alternate months and arrange regular whitewater and flat water trips, sometimes with camping or a bunkhouse stopover. Sessions are a combination of social paddling and coaching in a safe, friendly environment.

We aim to help our members improve their skills in the areas of paddling that they would like to try or improve. These include Canoe, Kayak and Paddleboards on all types of water. We have our own amateur racing team and an active freestyle section. We run various courses and coaching sessions at very low prices for our members.

Club boats, paddles, helmets and buoyancy aids are available for use by our members and visitors.

In addition to this, the 'Plus' part of Paddleplus means that we often arrange activities that our members are interested in, such as climbing, camping, caving, roller skating, skiing etc.

Prices for sessions and membership can be found here

Club Nights - Every Thursday

We meet every Thursday, with 2 sessions on the river. One tends to be geared towards families or juniors over 7, and the other tends to be for adults. Full details can be found on our Thursday club night page.

Come and join us no matter what your ability. Visitors are welcome for up to 3 taster sessions before joining as a member. No need to book, just turn up at Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre, and find us on the riverside room.

Trips and Events Across The Uk

The group organise longer paddles on the first Thursday of the month, at weekends and bank holidays. These include the touring and camping "Summer Solstice Paddle", Wye camp, a week of whitewater in Scotland at easter as well as training and participation in the 100 mile canoe test, which takes place over the late May bank holiday.

Details of these are announced on a Thursday night, and are published on our members area. Some of our regular trips are described in more detail on our events page.

At regular intervals improvers sessions are offered as a block of coaching in both canoe or kayak which include the chance to do BCU Star Awards. The Club encourages members to complete coaching, First aid and Safety awards.

The Club welcomes people of all abilities and has boats and equipment to fit all shapes and sizes. The Centre can accommodate visitors with specific physical needs.
