What we do

PaddlePlus is a welcoming paddlesport club run by volunteers. We meet every Thursday night throughout the year to paddle on the River Soar, pool sessions on a Friday night (on alternate months) and arrange regular white water and flat water trips, sometimes with camping or a bunkhouse stopover. Sessions are a combination of social paddling and coaching in a safe, friendly environment.

We aim to help our members improve their skills in all areas of paddling, whether it be canoe, kayak or stand-up-paddleboards (SUPs) on all types of water. We have our own amateur racing team, an active freestyle section and we run various courses and coaching sessions at affordable prices.

All the equipment you'll need, including boats, paddles, buoyancy aids and helmets are provided on club sessions.

In addition to this, the 'Plus' part of PaddlePlus means that we also arrange off-water activities, such as climbing, biking, walking, caving, roller skating and skiing.

Prices for sessions and membership can be found here

Club Nights - Every Thursday

We meet every Thursday evening, with 2 sessions on the river. The early session is geared towards families and juniors, and the later one tends to be for adults, although everyone is welcome to both. Full details can be found on our Thursday club night page.

Come and join us no matter what your ability. Visitors are welcome for up to 3 taster sessions before joining as a member. Book your taster sessions here

Trips and Events Across The UK

The group organise longer paddles on the first Thursday of the month, at weekends and bank holidays, wherever we can. Our most popular include the touring and camping 'Summer Solstice' paddle, August 'Wye Camp', a week of white-water in Scotland at Easter, as well as training and participation in the 100 Mile Canoe Test, which takes place over the late May bank holiday.

Trips are announced on a Thursday night and published on our events page.

Improver sessions are offered as a block of coaching in both canoe or kayak which include the chance to do the British Canoeing Star Awards. The Club encourages members to complete coaching, First Aid and Safety training.

We welcome people of all abilities and have boats and equipment to fit everyone. The Centre can accommodate visitors with specific physical needs.

Pool Sessions

7.30pm - 9pm at New Parks Swimming Pool. Open to all members, and visitors for up to 3 visits. Booking and further information can be found on our Kayak Pool Sessions page.
