We meet every Thursday night throughout the year to paddle on the river soar. These sessions are a combination of social paddling and coaching in a safe, friendly environment for adults and juniors. Members can choose to paddle a huge range of boats including canoes, kayaks and paddleboards along our home waters on the river Soar.
We have club boats, paddles, helmets and bouyancy aids available for use by our members and visitors.
6.15pm -7.30pm Every Thurday, Easter - October.
This tends to be a family or junior (over 7) session, but is open to all members, and visitors for up to 3 visits. Many of our previous junior paddlers are now adult members and coaches, some have gone on to compete in National Competition Squads, but more importantly, they all still enjoy their time on the water.
Run by experienced coaches from the club, this offers youngsters a chance to enjoy paddlesport. The sessions are based around the BCU paddlepower scheme which offers a fun and enjoyable way to learn key kayak and canoe skills.
7.00pm Onwards, Every Thursday, All Year Round.
After the family session on Thursday evenings, throughout the year, the club has a 'later session' - it used to be called the senior session but quite a few of the younger members also join in! The centre is on the River Soar which is a canalised river, flat with some good weirs. The paddlers often split in to smaller groups, some working on skills either informally or coached, with others going off on a river trip or to play on one of the weirs. A longer trip involving a shuttle is part of the offering for the first Thursday of each month.
Prices can be found here.
We like to think the club is very welcoming so don't be shy come and have a go, we were all new once. We always socialise after the session. There are hot drinks and information about trips and events coming up.
The session starts at 7:30pm (best to arrive at around 7pm) and usually finishes at around 9pm - 9:30pm.
The club welcomes people of all abilities and has boats and equipment to fit all shapes and sizes. The centre can accommodate visitors with specific physical needs.
